CCIDC Declares a New Certification Examination for Interior Designers in California in 2009
During the past eight years, there has been a complicated process to undertake in order to receive the title of Certified Interior Designer. Specifically, you must pass one of three different national exams-the CQRID, the NCIDQ, or the 2-part NKBA-as well a supplemental example, California Codes and Regulations Examination (CCRE). Only one national examination was recognized before. These examinations were administered in addition to the educational end experience based requirements described in Section 5800 of the Business & Professions Code.
These requirements were changed both to open it to those with “experience only” as well as to make California interior design certification exams compatible with Section 139 of the California Business and Professions Code. The candidates and students who pass this exam will still need to meet all requirements in order to become certified. Now the California Council for Interior Design Certification (CCIDC) board established that those 3 exams will becom eonly one, to make possible to more prepared interior designer become certified in order to start their profession.
On condition that the current CCRE be provided for an extended time frame for those planning to take it, CCIDC will continue to credit those who have taken one of the current national exams.
