Skiing Holidays for the Environmentally Conscious Skier

Many snowboarders will soon be searching for their ski trousers and shooting off trying to find the heaviest snow.

And beyond question the result of your carbon footprint will be virtually as far down the list of holiday to dos as a xmas cracker after the Christmas vacation.

Just last year, a slow snow was in the newspaper headlines and holidaymakers were frightened about the flakes of snow disappearing nearly as soon as they put down.

Holiday company Chalet1802, located at the foot of Mont Blanc in Chamonix in the French Alps, is one of the only autonomous firms to go carbon negative and give snowboarders an environmentally friendly selection when reserving their skiing trip.

Chalet1802 proprietor Yekuno stated: Last year was quite a surprise with the hottest winter in 60 years in the French Alps. Mountain skiing areas for example Le Grand-Bornand, Le Tour and Luz Ardiden lacked clients. It was mild and the snow didnt settle so much of the early season skiing season in the Alps was uneven. We decided to become carbon negative to assist in the preservation the skiing resort.

Yekuno said: We are not trying to prescribe to holiday makers only I believe it is all important to grant the clients the selection without augmenting the cost of the holiday. When the customer book with us and holidays in our chalet Chamonix they may further off-set their carbon output and we soak up the extra prices. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub - guests desire lavishness but not at the expense of the environment, so we considered ways of lessening the results of a skier traveling over here for a snowboarding holiday.”

The company have moreover linked up with organisation Climate Care, which deals with global warming by making C02 deductions for individuals and companies.
